Long term Labour supporter Eddie Izzard explains why he thinks you should be backing Livingstone at this election.

Focusing on fares, again, it’s certainly Labour’s strongest theme for the election and they’d do well to keep at it. The fly on the wall filming style works rather well here, I think, although it feels a little too sparse for a video supporting the winning candidate.

There is quite a strange moment where Izzard appears to be unable to give away his specially designed Oyster cards for free, and is driven to rambling to himself… I’d have cut that bit to be honest, you’re meant to make it look like you’re message is popular after all.

This is followed up by him offering one to a disinterested suit wearer who walks past disdainfully. I think it’s meant to show the rich do care but on top of the earlier clip it does rather feel like Eddie has spent the day disparately trying to find someone, anyone, to talk to – which I’m sure isn’t true as he’s a very well loved guy and an asset to Livingstone’s campaign.

It’s unlikely to achieve viral status and doesn’t particularly sparkle – but as a workmanlike film on fares highlighting that nice people support Livingstone it probably does the job.
