Cycle Tour Coordinator Internship
Working For: The Otesha Project UK
Salary: £14,650 pro rata (London living wage) – 3 days a week

The Otesha Project UK is a charity that mobilises young people to adopt more sustainable lifestyles and become inspiring leaders on climate change, social justice and ethical consumption.

We work with young people from a diversity of backgrounds across England, Wales and Scotland. Through our cycle tours and other educational projects we train, support and network young leaders as they examine the impacts of their own lifestyles and educate thousands of others to do the same. We also run workshops on practical themes like ethical fashion, energy use, sustainable transportation and Fairtrade. More recently, we have focused on ways to combat growing youth unemployment by helping young people find their way into world-changing careers and working to stimulate the green economy in East London.

On our flagship Cycle Tours programme (www.otesha.org.uk/cycletours), teams of volunteers spend three to six weeks travelling to schools, youth clubs, festivals and community events around the UK, performing the ever-evolving Morning Choices play and running hands-on workshops on subjects like home energy consumption, ethical fashion and fair trade. Since our first tours in 2008, eight teams of volunteers have undergone a life-changing experience and inspired over 8,500 people to take action.

We are seeking a highly motivated, organised and creative person to join our internship programme and play a key role in delivering our summer 2012 cycle tours and evaluating the programme on its completion. You should have an interest in exploring the relationships between global issues and personal actions and be passionate about creating a more sustainable world. This post is ideal for someone with loads of drive and ideas who wants to have a big role in a small organisation – not just get the coffee (we all get the coffee!)
