Hi Everyone,

Please try and make it to our planning meeting:Thursday, 19 January, 6.30pm, Vida Walsh Centre, just off Windrush Square, Brixton.

We will be discussing building the demonstration and carrying out direct action against the new round of cuts that Lambeth Council will be trying to rubber stamp at the full council meeting on 29 February. See more details here.We will need all the help we can get and remember it does make a difference. Last year we stopped the Council from cutting librarians and shutting down the One O’Clock Clubs. The Lambeth SOS Publicity Group and Lambeth SOS Direct Action Group will have met by Thursday and will feed back with ideas for action and publicity.

There will also be a discussion about how we can continue to help the trade unions in Lambeth carry on the fight to stop cuts to public sector pensions, including feed back from both the PCS Left Unity event which was on the 7 January and the Unite the Resistance Conference which was on the 14 January (chaired by our very own Ruth Cashman!).

Other items on the agenda will be a report back from the Lambeth SOS visit to the RMT Bakerloo branch which passed a resolution in support of the 29 Feb demonstration and Lambeth SOS and is also asking their regional council if we can go and speak to them too! We have also been speaking to people in UKUncut and the Occupy movement to see if we can link up with them on the 29 Feb.

And of course feel free to bring up any issues and campaigns that you want assistance or publicity for.

So lots to discuss and lots to do, put Thursday’s meeting in your diary now :)
