This Stop the Croydon Incinerator March took place on Sunday 13 May 2012. A number of Croydon and Sutton organisations joined together to protest the building of a waste incinerator in Croydon – one of the most densely populated areas in the UK.
The March started at Croydon University Hospital (Mayday as it was known) and routed through Broad Green and West Croydon, sites of the worst damage from rioting in the whole UK, past the extensive shopping malls of Centrale and Whitgift and onto the Town Hall to deliver the Stop the Incinerator message. To conclude the rally gathered in Queen’s Gardens by the Council’s Taberner House where the organisers put the arguementat many levels against building the incinerator.
